First 5 LA is a key funder for the ten Little by Little Program locations in Los Angeles County.

An independent public agency with a goal to support the safe and healthy development of young children, First 5 LA was created by voters in 1998 to invest in LA County’s allocation of funds from California’s voter-approved Proposition 10 tobacco tax revenues. First 5 LA works by changing systems and policies and by creating an integrated and coordinated system of services and supports to strengthen families. By prioritizing children in their early years, ages 0-5, First 5 LA is driven by its mission to ensure that they have the best start possible in life.

Little by Little Program Donors

Donations to the Little by Little Program are critical to its success. We are grateful for the generous support of our donors who provide both monetary and in-kind gifts, allowing us to continue our mission of providing early literacy support to young children and communities that lack equal access to resources.

Our network of donors includes individuals and organizations that share our vision and understand the importance of fostering emergent literacy skills. Donations of any amount to the Little by Little Program have a tremendous impact on our ability to ensure children are prepared for academic and lifelong success.

We are grateful for the support of book vendors across the United States who partner with us to find exciting, engaging, and educational children’s books for the program. The ability of our network of vendors to offer in-kind donations through either heavily discounted or free books allows us to stretch our funding further to serve as many families as possible.
